Dr. Muhammad Irfan is currently a professor and head of the Department of Mental Health, Psychiatry, and Behavioural Sciences at Peshawar Medical College in Peshawar, Pakistan. Apart from his qualifications of MCPS & FCPS in Psychiatry and a Master’s & Ph.D. from the New University of Lisbon, with summa cum laude, he has received various certifications &diplomas and has been honored with national and international awards.

He is currently the Director of the World Association of Cultural Psychiatry, President-Elect of Pakistan Association of Medical Editors & General Secretary of Pakistan Association of Cognitive Therapists. He has been the first and only Pakistani to be elected as the council member of the Committee On Publication Ethics.
He has publications in high-impact factor journals and has authored books and book chapters.

His professional interests include global/ digital mental health and culturally adapted and non-pharmacological interventions in Psychiatry.
