Hamid, Akhter

Dr. Muhammad Akhter Hamid is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Toronto. After completing his medical degree from Dow University of Health Sciences, in Karachi Pakistan, Dr. Hamid did his residency training (SpR)  from England and is working now as a general pediatrician and a neonatologist, with a special interest in emergency medicine and global health at the Scarborough Health Network (SHN). He did three fellowships in paediatrics.

Dr. Hamid is the Director of Paediatric Research and the Director of Resident’s Education at the Scarborough Health Network. He is continuously involved in the teaching of medical students and residents from the University of Toronto and nursing students from York University. Dr. Hamid was involved in improving and creating new patient care guidelines for Provincial Council for Maternal and Child Health (PCMCH). He is a member of the Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) and a member of the Research Ethics Board and Medical Education Council.
